Missouri S&T’s chapter of NRHH, the Shamrock Chapter, was founded in 1984 with 6 members. Since then, our chapter has grown to over 20 members and puts on exemplary leadership development, service, and recognition programs throughout the year.
The Shamrock Chapter has a great deal of traditional programming that it facilitates each year. First and foremost is Leadership Trip, a leadership development camp during the first weeks of school. Leadership Trip is directed towards first year students interested in leadership on campus, specifically in the halls. In addition to this, we also offer a $500 Up And Coming Leader Scholarship that is offered to a first-year student who has been involved as a hall leader throughout the year. Shamrock Chapter’s main philanthropic event is Say Cheese, where members of the chapter cook grilled cheese and grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. All of the proceeds made from Say Cheese to a charity of the chapter’s choice. This semester, our proceeds are going towards Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
The Shamrock Chapter is led by the members of its Executive Board: the President, Vice President, and the Secretary-Treasurer. The President is the face of the Shamrock Chapter and coordinates the new member selection process. The Vice President coordinates all of the chapter’s recognition initiatives. The Secretary-Treasurer keeps track of chapter finances and coordinating outreach initiatives. In addition to our Executive Board, we have other leadership positions including (but not limited to) the Regional Representative, Service Coordinator, Leadership Trip Chair, and Chairs for each of our internal committees.
